2014 HVT Amp
Designed for my AS-Level Design Tech project, the HVT (Hopkins Vehicle Technologies) Amp is an innovative, two wheel city car concept. The Amp uses the same concept as that of the Segway, using a gyroscope to balance the whole vehicle. A stand extends from the rear bumper when the vehicle is parked.
Powered by two electric motors (one for each wheel), the Amp has 144 Lithium Ion batteries that are spread evenly across the underside of the chassis. This also helps to balance the vehicle whilst in motion.
The Amp provides comfortable seating for two and can be driven from either seat. This is because the car is controlled by a rollball set into the centre console. The driver pushes forwards for drive, back for reverse and tilts left or right for direction. This design would reduce production costs as the car would not have to be tailored for different markets.
