2015 HVT3
Built for my A-Level Design and Build project, the HVT3 is an exercise in recycling and re-purposing. The total cost for all parts should have totaled around £800, but in fact cost less than £200.
The engine and gearbox are scavenged from an old self-propelling lawn mower whilst the seat and front wheels were discarded from old school build projects. The handlebars and levers are from a disused bicycle with the rear wheel provided by a redundant ride-on lawn mower.
I designed and welded the chassis from 40 x 40 mm box section steel with the steering column fashioned from a 12mm dia steel bar.
In testing the vehicle performed as expected and was able to maintain a constant speed and a stable path.
